South film critic and trade analyst Manobala Vijayablan shared his review of 'Leo' and called the film 'the weakest of Lokesh' films. He also shared that the Vijay film was not even close to 'Vikram' or 'Kaithi'.
Manobala Vijayablan tweeted, "Tried to be a lion🦁 but ended up as a cat🐈. Despite a promising premise and some commendable efforts from Joseph Vijay and cast, the end result is a disappointment. Lokesh Kanagaraj's Leo fails to live up to the expectations or unnecessary hype. Also, the film does not maintain a consistent level of engagement, leading to moments of boredom that detract from the overall viewing experience. The film is no where near Vikram or Kaithi, it is the weakest in Lokesh career. A Mediocre Effort."
Helmed by Lokesh Kumar, the film ‘ Leo’ is expected to collect a net total of Rs 145 crore worldwide, with strong performances in all four southern states.
Talking about the early estimated box office collection, ‘Leo’ is expected to make around Rs 32 crore in Tamil Nadu, Rs 17 crore in Andhra Pradesh/Telangana, Rs 14 crore in Karnataka, and Rs 12 crore in Kerala. All in all, Leo's domestic business is expected to be more than Rs 80 crore on its first day, and it's expected to get around Rs 65 crore from overseas, so it'll make its worldwide opening day more than Rs 145 crore.

Background
New Delhi: 'Leo' releases on Thursday, October 19 amid massive fanfare and anticipation for thousands of Thalapathy Vijay fans. While early morning shows of 4:00 PM in Tamil Nadu were cancelled by the order of the Madras High Court, the film's first show at 7:00 AM & 9:00 AM has created a buzz on social media platforms like X, Meta and Instagram. Lokesh Kanagaraj has reunited with Vijay after the blockbuster 'Master' and fans are really high on excitement about what 'Leo' brings to screens.
As per trade analysis site Sacnilk.com, 'Leo' has even surpassed Shah Rukh Khan's 'Jawan' in advance bookings number.
'Leo' has already sold 16 lakh tickets and may sell about 20 lakh tickets before the opening day.
With the numbers that the analysis site shared, it seems that Vijay's 'Leo' has beaten Shah Rukh Khan's 'Jawan', which was released last month. 'Jawan' had sold for about Rs. 15. 75 lakh tickets in advance bookings for its opening day.
As per the same site, the Tamil version of Leo has sold 13.75 lakh tickets, whereas the Telugu and Hindi versions stand at 2.10 lakh and 20,000 tickets respectively.
However, despite the higher advance booking figure, 'Leo' has grossed a lesser amount than that of 'Jawan'. While Lokesh Kanagarj's film has collected Rs. 31 cr so far, 'Jawan' earned from Rs. 41 cr via advance booking. The difference in collection can also be because of the varied ticket pricing.
Meanwhile, 'Leo' also stars Trisha, Arjun, Sanjay Dutt, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Mansoor Ali Khan, Priya Anand and more. The film is the third installment of the Lokesh Cinematic Universe, following 'Vikram'( 2022) which starred Kamal Haasan in the lead.
After the successful 2021 blockbuster 'Master', Vijay and director Lokesh Kanagaraj reunite with the film 'Leo'.
On October 19, Leo will be available in Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, Tamul and Kannada in 2D and IMAX.
