The Aam Aadmi Party has demanded Bharat Ratna for former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh a day after his death. The AAP's demand for Bharat Ratna for the Congress leader comes amid the conflict with the Grand Old Party ahead of the Delhi elections.


AAP's Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, said: "He has all the qualifications that are required to get Bharat Ratna. The Government of India should think about it."

"I received his blessings from the time I reached Rajya Sabha till now. I remember an incident which I can never forget. Once I was signing, there were no digital signatures. I saw someone put his hand on my shoulder from behind. I saw that Dr. Manmohan Singh was standing. I touched his feet. He put his hand on my shoulder and said that Sanjay Singh ji, you are a strong voice of the Opposition. I shall always remember these words. He was a great person."


"When he stood up to speak in the Parliament, MPs from both the ruling party and the Opposition used to listen to him quietly. He would finish his speech in 2 or 3 minutes. He used to express big things in a few words. Dr Manmohan Singhji has made important contributions in strengthening the country's economy.

Remembering Manmohan Singh's contributions as an Opposition leader, Sanjay Singh said the day he came to vote is unforgettable. "When a bill was brought in the Rajya Sabha in the ordinance case regarding the Delhi. Then Manmohan Singh ji came to the House in a wheelchair to vote. Our party will always remember this favour."


AAP Vs Congress: What's Happening In Delhi?


Sanjay Singh's demand for honouring Manmohan Singh comes amid AAP's intense war with Congress. The Congress accused the AAP of using money power from Punjab and mounting surveillance on its leaders using the Punjab Police. Congress leader Ajay Maken even called Arvind Kejriwal "anti-national".


The AAP retaliated by calling for the ouster of Congress from the INDIA bloc. It also accused the Congress of taking BJP funds to fight against Kejriwal.
