Devara Release: Underwater Shooting To Jr. NTR's Solo Release After 6 Years; Everything We Know About The Big Telugu Actioner

New Delhi: The much-anticipated trailer of 'Devara Part 1' was released on Tuesday evening amid much fanfare. The Jr. NTR, Janhvi Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan-starrer's trailer seems to have kept the story under wraps. As fans play guess games on social media platforms like X ad Reddit, here is what we know about the film.

Jr. NTR plays double role

Like a lot of Southern auctioner’s  like 'Indian 2', 'GOAT', 'Devara' will also see Jr. NTR in a double role. As is clear from the posters and trailer, Jr. NTR plays both father and son in the film 'Devara'.  While the father's role is the 'protector of the seas', somewhere who is feared and revered, the role of his son is exactly the opposite.

Saif plyas Bhaira, a wrestling expert, who hails from a village along the coast known for pirates. A scene in the trailer shows them looting ships, killing coast guards and creating ruckus. It is because of Devara alone that they learn to fear him. However, it is hinted that Bhaira befriends Devara and then becomes a traitor, plotting his downfall so that he can go on with his plundering.

Janhvi Kapoor's anticipated South Debut

Janhvi Kapor's south debut alongside 'Devara: Part 1' is a much-talked about affair. Like her late mother and former superstar, Janhvi seems to be following her footsteps. Janhvi is playing the role of Vara, the son's love interest, she is called Thangam.

At the trailer launch of the film, Janhvi called working in a Telugu film her 'ghar wapsi'(return home). The 'Mili' actor will also be seen with Ram Charan next.

Underwater shooting that went on for 38 days

As we are aware of the massive budget 'Devara' is bankrolled on, the film with his heavy-duty action and several underwater sequences was shot underwater with teh use of cutting-edge technology. Jr. NTR claimed at the trailer launch that the cast shot for 38 days underwater and 60 days above ground just to get the action sequences right. 

The Telugu superstar also claimed that he 'hated' the last shot of the trailer, in which we see him riding a shark because he was stuck in a tank for a whole day to get the scene right.

Jr. NTR's major solo film release almost after 6 years

Jr. NTRs' last solo film was 'Aravinda Sametha Veera Raghava', directed by Trivikram Srinivas. 'Devara: Part 1' will be Jr. NTR's first solo release, something his fans have also been eagerly anticipating. Jr. NTR will also be seen with Hrithik Roshan in 'War 2'. This will also mark his Bollywood debut. 

Meanwhile, Devara also stars Prakash Raj, Srikanth, Shine Tom Chacko, Narain and Shruti Marathe. The film is slated for a grand release on Sep 27, 2024.

'Devara' is also bankrolled on a budget of Rs. 300 cr and has been produced by several companies including Karan Johar's Dharma.
