Shashi Tharoor Sings A Kishore Kumar Song For Members Of Parliamentary Standing Committee
Shashi Tharoor, who is well-known for his vocabulary skills, has impressed people with his singing skills as well.
New Delhi: Politician, writer and former diplomat Shashi Tharoor shared a video of himself crooning one of Kishore Kumar’s songs. The politician can be spotted singing Kishore Kumar's popular song ‘Ek Ajnabee Haseena Se’ for members of the Parliamentary Standing Committee.
Shashi Tharoor, who is well-known for his English vocabulary and oratory, has impressed people with his singing skills as well. He posted the video from his official Twitter account and wrote: “After the cultural programme by Doordarshan Srinagar for the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Information Technology, I was persuaded to sing for the Members. Unrehearsed and amateur but do enjoy!”
The audience could be heard cheering the Congress MP from Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram on with applause.
‘Ek Ajnabee Haseena Se’ is a very popular song from the 1974 movie ‘Ajnabee’ featuring Rajesh Khanna and Zeenat Aman in the lead roles. The song was sung by Kishore Kumar and the composer was none other than R.D. Burman.
Shashi Tharoor heads the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Information Technology and has formerly served as Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on External Affairs. He has also received the Sahitya Academy Award for his book An Era of Darkness in a non-fiction category in English language.
His impromptu performance won applause on Twitter, with many of his followers showering praise on him.
Even professional playback singer Srinivas had words of praise for him. "Not bad at all sir,” he wrote.
