Shahid Kapoor Says Nobody Can Do Justice To Kareena Kapoor's Character In 'Jab We Met'
Shahid Kapoor discusses his thoughts on Jab We Met's sequel and Kareena Kapoor's character (Geet).
New Delhi: Shahid Kapoor is currently breaking the internet with his OTT debut ‘Farzi’. His 2007 blockbuster movie 'Jab We Met' starring Kareena Kapoor was also re-released this Valentine's Day after 16 years. It has been reported that the movie did well at the theatres. In a recent interview, Shahid discusses his thoughts on the film’s sequel and Kareena Kapoor's character (Geet).
Talking to Siddharth Kannan, Shahid discussed the renewed interest in the film and the widespread praise it received. As he talked about the possibility of a sequel, Shahid said, "It really depends on the quality of that script. So if there is a script that demands a sequel and I feel it is the kind of script that you read and say ‘man this will be better than the original this can match up to the original’ I would do it but if I feel it’s not and I’m just trying to use the brand value of the original thing to do then I feel that that ‘why are you doing it, don’t do it’.”
Shahid Kapoor also said that no contemporary actor is capable of portraying Kareena Kapoor in ‘Jab We Met’. “I cannot comment on my role, but for Geet, I really doubt anybody else will be able to do that kind of justice,” the actor said.
Shahid continued by remarking about the director and said that ‘Jab We Met’ is his ‘DDLJ”. He said, “That is the magic of Imtiaz Ali, he made a film so relevant and I don’t think a love story like that has come out after that. It is his vision that is giving us love and we should thank him for that. The film is my DDLJ, it is iconic.”
Meanwhile, he will be next seen in ‘Bloody Daddy’, directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, and in an untitled film starring Kriti Sanon.
