Confirmed! Alia Bhatt's 'Gangubai Kathiawadi' To Release In Theatres On February 25

Alia Bhatt's 'Gangubai Kathiawadi' is inspired by the life of Gangubai Kothewali 'madam' of a brothel in Mumbai's Kamathipura, & is based on a chapter of Hussain Zaidi's book 'Mafia Queens Of Mumbai'.

Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali's upcoming film 'Gangubai Kathiawadi' starring Alia Bhatt is all set to release theatrically on February 25.

The official handle of Bhansali productions shared an update on social media. The post was captioned as, ''Witness her reign in cinemas near you on 25th February 2022. 👑#GangubaiKathiawadi #SanjayLeelaBhansali @ajaydevgn @aliaabhatt @prerna_singh6 @jayantilalgadaofficial @penmovies @saregama_official.''

Confirmed! Alia Bhatt's 'Gangubai Kathiawadi' To Release In Theatres On February 25
'Gangubai Kathiawadi' is inspired by the life of Gangubai Kothewali, 'madam' of a brothel in Mumbai's Kamathipura, and is based on a chapter of Hussain Zaidi's book 'Mafia Queens Of Mumbai'.

The movie features Alia Bhatt in the title role of Gangubai, one of the most powerful, loved and respected madams from Mumbai’s red-light area Kamathipura during the 1960s. The film also stars Ajay Devgn,Seema Pahwa and has cameo appearance by Huma Qureshi. 

'Gangubai Kathiawadi' has been delayed multiple times due to the coronavirus pandemic that hit India in March 2020.

The film is all set to have its much-awaited world premiere at the prestigious 72nd Berlin International Film Festival.

'Gangubai Kathiawadi' is produced by Bhansali and Dr. Jayantilal Gada (Pen Studios).

Earlier in an interview, director Sanjay Leela Bhansali had opened up about the film. He said that Gangubai Kathiawadi is a very special film to him. The filmmaker stated that it has not been easy. He further added that they made it during the pandemic he has have given it all and can’t wait to share it with everyone.
