Ponniyin Selvan 1 Box Office Collection Day 6: Mani Ratnam’s Film Is Close To Reach 300 Crore Club

In terms of box office receipts during the first weekend, ‘Ponniyin Selvan 1’ outperformed every other Tamil film that was released this year.

New Delhi: The Tamil film ‘Ponniyin Selvan 1’ or ‘PS’ is raking with massive success at theaters. The film was released on September 30 in several languages, including Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam. Starring Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, and Trisha, among others, the film is getting near to the Rs 300 crore milestone at the box office. 

Trade analyst Manobala Vijayabalan shared the box office numbers, saying that PS1 made Rs 29.40 cr globally on day 6, bringing the total worldwide box office collection to Rs 287.85 cr.

In terms of box office receipts during the first weekend, ‘Ponniyin Selvan 1’ outperformed every other Tamil film that was released in India this year. The Vijaya Dashami festival helped the film's box office take in Tamil Nadu by 16.79 crore rupees. The result is that ‘Ponniyin Selvan 1’ has made Rs 117.53 cr at the box office in Tamil Nadu alone.

The film has smashed many records at the box office throughout the globe. It is also the 1st Non-Rajini Kollywood movie to reach the $4 Million club in the USA.

The film is based on Kalki Krishnamurthy's 1955 historical fiction book. The film depicts the early years of Arulmozhi Varman, who would grow up to become the famous Raja Chozhan. The first part of the movie tells the tale of his childhood, which is followed by the rest of the events of the film.

Ponniyin Selvan is a five-part novel written and Mani Ratnam’s first part of the movie is based on a chronological account of the most important events that take place in the first three parts of the novel.
