PM Modi Asks Party Workers To Refrain From Making Unnecessary Comments Against Films

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday told BJP workers to refrain from making "unnecessary" comments about films. He made the observation while addressing the last day of the two-day National Executive meet.
Modi suggested that unnecessary remarks on irrelevant issues such as movies put the party's development agenda on the backburner, PTI reported.
The Prime Minister's statement comes amid the recent protests against Shah Rukh Khan's film 'Pathaan', with several BJP leaders like Ram Kadam and Narottam Mishra criticising the makers over Deepika Padukone's saffron costume in the song 'Besharam Rang'.
The song has been in news for a saffron-coloured bikini worn by Deepika along with a few shots that several politicians and trolls found 'vulgar'.
Madhya Pradesh home minister Narottam Mishra had threatened to block the release of the film if certain scenes were not ‘rectified’. He had said the scenes were ‘highly objectionable’ and shot with a ‘dirty mindset’. Mishra had said the way the colours saffron and green have been used in the costumes used in the song is objectionable.
Madhya Pradesh Assembly Speaker Girish Gautam had asked Shah Rukh Khan if he would dare to watch his movie 'Pathaan' along with his daughter.
"Will he (Shah Rukh) dare to watch film with his daughter? I am asking Shah Rukh Khan, your daughter is 23-24 years old, watch your movie with her," Gautam had said.
BJP MLA Ram Kadam had also objected to the song in a series of tweets and had said that any film or serial that insults Hindutva will not be tolerated.
'Pathaan' is set to release on Jan 25 in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. Yash Raj Films will open the advance booking for the Shah Rukh Khan starrer on January 20, five days before the film’s release. Touted as one of the biggest ever action spectacle, Yash Raj Films’ action extravaganza, Pathaan, is part of Aditya Chopra’s ambitious spy universe and also has Deepika Padukone and John Abraham in the leading role apart from SRK.
