The Great Indian Kapil Show: Rohit Sharma Admits He Can’t Disobey His Wife, Says, ‘She Can't Enter The Field…’

Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma spoke with comedian Kapil Sharma on his interactions with other players on the pitch.

New Delhi: In an episode of 'The Great Indian Kapil Show' on Netflix, Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma shared several of amusing anecdotes. He spoke with comedian Kapil Sharma on his interactions with other players on the pitch. Kapil also asked Ritika Sajdeh, Rohit's manager and wife, about her experiences in handling the cricket player.

Rohit Sharma says he 'can't disobey' his wife

Kapil asked Rohit on the show about any players who had urged him not to hit sixes during a game because their girlfriend was at the stadium.

Rohit said, “Yes, of course, we have had conversations like this but I tell them that, ‘While its your girlfriend present at the stadium, I have my wife watching the match.’ She sits with her fingers crossed during the whole match. So, she is more important for me.”

Next, Kapil Sharma directed his questions towards Ritika Sajdeh. He asked, “Is he tougher to manage as a husband or as a cricketer?” Ritika answered, “As a husband. As a captain, he has his team to manage him. I don’t have to do anything.”

Rohit replied quickly, “She can’t enter the field nor the dressing room but I have to enter the house. She is the captain there.”

Rohit Sharma talks about 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup final

Rohit Sharma, meanwhile, spoke candidly about India's 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup final defeat to Australia, stating that while at first, he thought the nation was upset with them, they had instead received a lot of praise for the way they played.

Rohit told Kapil that the squad had a lot of momentum going into the final match of the season following a 10-match winning streak.

"Two days before the match, our team was in Ahmedabad and we did our practice. The team had maintained a good momentum. As if the team was on autopilot. When the match began, we started good. Shubman Gill got out quickly but then Virat Kohli and I had a partnership. We were confident we could achieve a good score. I feel that in big matches, if you are able to score runs and create pressure on the opposite team, it is good as any team can slip under pressure. But Australia played good cricket. We even managed to take three wickets for just around 40 runs but they had a long partnership after that," said Rohit.

'The Great Indian Kapil Show' is currently streaming on Netflix.
