Rana Daggubati Calls Rana Naidu A ‘Biopic’, Says Netflix Series Reflects Dark Reality Of His Real Life

Rana Daggubati calls Rana Naidu Season 2 a dark reflection of his real life. Kriti Kharbanda joins the Netflix crime drama and reveals why her role is a personal breakthrough.

As the buzz builds for 'Rana Naidu Season 2', actor Rana Daggubati has offered a personal perspective on the gritty Netflix series that has fans intrigued. The crime drama, which originally premiered in 2023, brought Rana and his uncle Venkatesh Daggubati together onscreen for the first time. While the show made headlines for its raw portrayal of a dysfunctional family caught in the underbelly of crime and celebrity management, Rana has now revealed that it hits closer to home than most would expect.

“This show is a dark reality of my life”

In a candid conversation with NDTV, Rana shared that Rana Naidu isn’t just fiction, it mirrors aspects of his own experiences. “I haven’t said this before, but this show is actually a biopic in some sense. It is like a dark reality of my real life,” he said, explaining the unstructured nature of working in the Indian entertainment industry.

“In India, we work in entertainment, we work in the media in some form, which is a very unstructured style. We are a country that has 10-12 different industries. We speak many more languages than that. In this structure, you have to be fluid to be able to fix things constantly. There will always be trouble, you will always have to fix things, that’s always a parallel with the show,” he added.

What is Rana Naidu Season 2 about?

Set to premiere on June 13, 'Rana Naidu Season 2' delves deeper into the family’s strained dynamics as they attempt to heal. But the chaos they’re trying to outrun resurfaces, making peace an elusive dream. The series continues its dark, emotional exploration of loyalty, trauma, and second chances.

Kriti Kharbanda’s role in Rana Naidu

Joining the returning cast this season is actor Kriti Kharbanda, who expressed immense excitement about her role. “I was extremely excited about doing this. I couldn’t sleep the night before my first day,” she told NDTV.

Sharing how the part challenged her as a performer, Kriti said, “It is very contrasting to the kind of person I am in real life. For me, that was so exciting—that finally someone’s offering me something different. That was just amazing.”

The show will also feature Arjun Rampal in a pivotal role. An official adaptation of the American series Ray Donovan, Rana Naidu promises to raise the stakes in Season 2 with deeper emotional arcs and explosive confrontations.
