Panchayat Season 4: The much-anticipated fourth season of 'Panchayat' landed on Prime Video on June 24, bringing back familiar faces like Jitendra Kumar, Neena Gupta, and Raghubir Yadav. However, the latest chapter in the Phulera saga hasn't managed to strike the same chord as its predecessors, especially when it comes to the finale, which has sparked widespread disappointment among fans and critics alike.
Panchayat Season 4 finale gets lowest ratings
While earlier seasons of the rural dramedy earned high praise for their simplicity, humour, and emotional depth, season 4's political-heavy narrative has seemingly shifted the show’s tone leaving many viewers feeling underwhelmed.
On IMDb, the series' season finales have historically enjoyed impressive ratings: Season 1’s “Jab Jaago Tabhi Savera” scored an 8.8, Season 2’s “Parivaar” reached a high of 9.6, and Season 3’s “Hamla” earned a solid 9. But this year’s final episode, “Dabdaba,” has clocked in at just 8.4 - marking the lowest finale rating in the show’s run so far.
Netizens disappointed with Panchayat Season 4
The response on social media hasn’t been any kinder. Several users on X (formerly Twitter) expressed their frustration with the direction of the show.
“Finished watching...Disappointed to the core. Slow Even boring in some parts.. Lacked the USP comedy... unexpected downfall,” one user wrote.
Another user commented, "Panchayat Season 4 lost its comic charm & leaned too much into politics. While emotional moments were decent, the signature humor was missing. A few standout scenes, but overall it felt dragged and lacked spark. Had potential, but underwhelming."
Another added, “I am really disappointed with the ending. But I can understand they have to setup for next season.”
There were also viewers who were dissatisfied with the show's political tilt and the lack of the light-hearted charm it was once loved for.
“I didn't like Panchayat new season 4… too much bad politics... On top of it ending is not good.. why the they made it like this and ruined a good series,” wrote one viewer.
A more critical viewer pointed out, “Sadly, the weakest season so far."
“Worst ending PANCHAYAT season 4. Disappointed,” read another blunt comment.
Panchayat Season 4 review
This season centred around the escalating political tensions in Phulera, deviating from the show’s earlier slice-of-life approach. Alongside Jitendra Kumar’s return as Sachiv Ji, the ensemble cast featured Neena Gupta, Faisal Malik, Chandan Roy, Durgesh Kumar, Sunita Rajwar, and Pankaj Jha.
ABP Live's review read, "On its own, Panchayat Season 4 is a well-made, decent watch. However, it carries the weighty legacy of its predecessors, particularly the first two seasons, which set an exceptionally high benchmark for rural dramedy. When measured against that towering standard, even a competent season can appear somewhat mediocre, and unfortunately, this is precisely what has happened with Season 4."
