Vidyut Jamwal SLAMS OTT Platform For Snubbing His Film 'Khuda Haafiz'; Genelia & Randeep Say 'More Power To You'

Vidyut Jamwal called out Disney+ Hotstar for ignoring his movie during the virtual press conference 'Bollywood Ki Home Delivery'.

New Delhi: Disney+ Hotstar announced that seven highly anticipated films will premiere directly on the OTT platform in the upcoming months. A virtual press conference titled ‘Bollywood Ki Home Delivery’ was organized on Monday (June 29). Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt and Abhishek Bachchan attended the virtual star-studded event. Their films will have a direct-to-web release on the OTT platform. Vidyut Jamwal's 'Khuda Haafiz' and Kunal Kemmu starrer 'Lootcase’ will also be available for streaming on Disney+ Hotstar. However, the two actors were not invited for the press conference, which was hosted by ‘Coolie No.1’ actor Varun Dhawan. He wrote, “A BIG announcement for sure!! 7 films scheduled for release but only 5 are deemed worthy of representation. 2 films, receive no invitation or intimation. It’s a long road ahead. THE CYCLE CONTINUES.” The ‘Commando’ actor questioned the trend of star power dictating terms in Bollywood. His tweet went viral on social media and fans supported Vidyut for calling out the bias and unequal representation during the press conference organized by the leading OTT platform.
Kunal also pointed out the bias without naming anyone. The 'Malang' actor asked for equal opportunity and said, "One can't ask for respect and love as these two things are earned." “Izzat aur pyaar maanga nahi kamaya jaata hai. Koi na de toh usse hum chhote nahi hote. Bas maidaan khelne ke liye barabar de do chhalaang hum bhi oonchi laga sakte hai,” Kunal tweeted.
Randeep Hooda came out in support of Vidyut and tweeted,"More power to you brother Vidyut  .. will watch your film the day it releases."
Genelia D'Souza, who worked with Vidyut in 'Force', also expressed her views on the matter. "Every film is made with a lot of love, a lot of sweat & a lot people giving it their all. Its only fair to want a little respect, its only fair to expect an invitation, its only fair to have at least been intimated. But then, sometimes even life is not fair. keep walking my friend," she wrote on the micro-blogging site.
"Such a shame that ill treatment of outsiders continues even in territories where everyone is new and an outsider," Kangana Ranaut's team tweeted on her behalf.
Vidyut Jamwal's 'Khuda Haafiz' co-starring Shivaleeka Oberoi and Aahana Kumra is based on a real life incident. The makers have released a new poster of the film on social media.
