Sharmaji Namkeen: Farhan Akhtar Shares First Look Poster Of Rishi Kapoor's Last Film On His Birth Anniversary

Sharmaji Namkeen First Poster: Paresh Rawal filmed the remaining portions of Rishi Kapoor's swansong after the latter's demise.

Mumbai: Bollywood filmmaker and actor Farhan Akhtar unveiled the first look poster of ‘Sharmaji Namkeen’ on Rishi Kapoor’s 69th birth anniversary. Rishi, who passed away on April 30, shot for few portions of the film. Excel Entertainment had roped in Paresh Rawal to step into Kapoor’s shoes and carry forward the character. 

Farhan penned a long post on social media to share the poster of ‘Sharmaji Namkeen’ featuring late Rishi Kapoor and Paresh Rawal. He wrote, “As a mark of love, respect and remembrance of him and as a gift to his millions of fans, here is the first look of his final film.”

The ‘Toofan’ actor also thanked Paresh Rawal for giving his nod to the film and agreeing to play the same character.We are proud to present, the poster of a very special film- Sharmaji Namkeen, starring one of the most celebrated actors in the Hindi film industry whose inimitable work and sparkling career we will cherish forever, Mr. Rishi Kapoor. A big thank you to Mr. Paresh Rawal, who completed the film by agreeing to take the sensitive step of portraying the same character played by Rishi-ji,” he added.

Excel Entertainment and Macguffin Pictures have joined hands together to produce ‘Sharmaji Namkeen’. The light-hearted drama has been directed by debutant Hitesh Bhatia. Juhi Chawla will also feature in the coming-of-age story. The makers are yet to announce a release date.

Rishi Kapoor-Paresh Rawal's Films

Rawal and Kapoor worked in movies 'Damini', 'Patel Ki Punjabi Shaadi' and 'Hathyar'. Paresh played the role of Ranbir Kapoor's father in Rajkumar Hirani's 'Sanju'. The film emerged as a massive hit at the box office.

Riddhima Kapoor Shares Poster Of Rishi Kapoor's Swansong

Rishi Kapoor's daughter Riddhima Kapoor also shared the same poster on social media, expressing gratitude towards Paresh Rawal for shooting the remaining portions of the film.

 Rishi Kapoor left for his heavenly abode after a two year-long battle with leukaemia.
