Sameera Reddy penned a powerful post to ask fans to embrace body positivity and not succumb to the pressure to fit into a 'certain type'.
Mumbai: Bollywood actress Sameera Reddy’s Instagram handle is like a breath of fresh air as she talks about embracing body positivity and breaking the stereotypes in her post. Reddy, who has transitioned into a digital influencer, has managed to grab eyeballs with her ‘Messy Mama’ posts on social media. She penned a long post to encourage her fans to lead a healthy lifestyle and indulge in self-love.
Sameera said that one should not explain his/her body appearance to anyone. She added that weight fluctuations can happen to anyone and one must focus on staying healthy and fit and not being skinny. The ‘Race’ actress said that she gained weight even before becoming a mother.
“You don't need to explain your body appearance to anyone. Or give them a reason or excuse why you look a certain way. I’ve heard many times that I had a post partum ‘excuse’ for weight gain. I disagree. Weight fluctuations can happen to anyone at any stage. I’ve gained weight many times before becoming a mother. It’s only now that I am fully aware of my patterns. I can mindfully stay on course to becoming healthy and fit : NOT SKINNY!,” she wrote on Instagram while sharing a collage picture.
Sameera further said that she chose to share this post as she received messages from people on the pressure of looking a 'certain type'. "I choose to talk about this because I see many messages from men and women on the judgement & pressure . This post is to have you know that You don’t need to fit into what is expected of you to look a certain type," she added.
Fans have flooded the comments section with their messages. While Saif Ali Khan's sister Saba Ali Pataudi wrote, "Resonated. Thank you", Sameera's mother-in-law commented, "The brilliance of the smile and the warmth of the heart is all that we should be appreciating."
One user wrote, "You’re alive, you’re happy, you’re healthy, you’re loved - that is enough. Thank you for raising this."
Sameera and her husband Akshai Varde are proud parents to Hans and Nyra. This ‘Messy Mama’ is indeed an inspiration for all the mothers.
