New Delhi: The Narcotics Control Bureau arrested Bollywood actress Rhea Chakraborty under various sections of the NDPS Act on Tuesday (September 8) after three consecutive days of interrogation to unravel the drugs nexus in the film industry. The NCB arrested the ‘Jalebi’ actress for her alleged role in the drugs angle linked with the death of Sushant Singh Rajput. Rhea will undergo a COVID-19 test at Sion hospital and then, will be lodged at women’s lock-up at NCB’s office in Mumbai.

Rhea Chakraborty, who is the prime accused in Sushant’s death case, will be produced before a magistrate via video-conferencing at 7:30pm, a report in ANI said.

According to sources, the NCB may not seek remand of Rhea as the agency has already grilled the actress for three days and she is ready to be present whenever summoned.

Rhea grilled for 19 hours before arrest

The drug law enforcement agency questioned Rhea Chakraborty for six hours on Sunday (September 6). She was again interrogated for around eight hours on Monday (September 7). The actress was subjected to five-hour grilling on Tuesday before the NCB arrested her.

Rhea Chakraborty had filed an FIR against Sushant' sister Priyanka Singh, Dr Tarun Kumar of Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital and others on Monday at Mumbai's Bandra Police station. She accused the 'Chhichhore' star's sister of forged medical prescriptions.

Sushant's family lawyer Vikas Singh called the FIR against Sushant's sister as 'violation of the Supreme Court order'.

Rhea was reportedly confronted with her brother Showik, Samuel and Sushant's house help Dipesh Sawant on Monday.

Rhea Chakraborty's lawyer Satish Manshinde issues statement after her arrest

Rhea Chakraborty's Satish Manshinde slammed the central agencies for 'hounding' his client, 'just because she was in love with Sushant.' In the statement, Rhea's legal team referred the 'Pavitra Rishta' actor as a 'drug addict'.

"Central Agencies hounding a single Woman, just because she was in love with a Drug Addict and was suffering from Mental Health issues for several years under the care of 5 Leading Psychiatrists in Mumbai, who ended up committing suicide due to the consumption of Illegally Administered Medicines and used drugs," the statement read.

NCB arrested Rhea's brother and associate last week

The NCB officials arrested Rhea Chakraborty's brother Showik Chakraborty and Sushant's house manager Samuel Miranda on Friday (September 4) after a 10-hour long interrogation. The duo was sent to NCB's custody till September 9.

Rhea's father's statement after Showik's arrest

Rhea Chakraborty's father Lt Col Indrajit Chakraborty (Retd) issued a statement after his son Showik Chakraborty was arrested by the NCB. Indrajit was also questioned by the CBI in connection with Sushant's death case.

“Congratulations India, you have arrested my son, I’m sure next on the line is my daughter and I don’t know who is next thereafter. You have effectively demolished a middle class family. But of course, for the sake of justice everything is justified. Jai hind,” the statement read.



Three agencies including the Enforcement Directorate and the Central Bureau of Investigation are probing Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case. While the CBI is investigating the abetment to suicide angle, the ED is probing the money laundering angle in the case.
