New Delhi: With ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’, Karan Johar is making his directorial comeback after a seven-year hiatus, making it one of the most anticipated films in Bollywood. The film, which was earlier scheduled to release on April 28, has been pushed and will now hit the theatres on July 28. The film stars Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh in lead roles.

On November 13 last year, Karan Johar, who last directed 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil' with 'Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani', had announced the film would release on April 28.

Alia too shared a poster announcing the new release date: "Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani.. releasing 28th July 2023."

It is to be noted that Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus  ‘Ponniyin Selvan 2’ will release on April 28. The makers announced the release date of the film recently. We are not sure whether this is the reason behind Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’s release date being pushed further.

The film’s shoot was wrapped up in August last year. Karan Johar Johar had then shared a video of the wrap-up celebration. He called the film “a piece of my heart” and wrote, “It's a talkie wrap on a piece of my heart...a kahani that became a journey which I will hold close to me forever! I sat in the director chair after many years and it felt like coming home. We had legends and superstars on the set and in front of the camera - they were magic! Behind the camera, it was nothing short of magic either with my A-team, my pillars of strength. Thank you to everyone who worked tirelessly and passionately towards this kahani...I am forever grateful. #RockyAurRaniKiPremKahani coming soon in cinemas in 2023.”
