After ‘Sanju’, Ranbir Kapoor is reportedly set to star in another biopic and this time he will play former Indian cricket team captain Sourav Ganguly.

New Delhi: After ‘Sanju’, Ranbir Kapoor is reportedly set to star in another biopic and this time he will play former Indian cricket team captain Sourav Ganguly.

According to a report in the news portal RevSportz, Ranbir has been finalised for the role in the biopic. The report added that the actor will soon visit Kolkata to go to Ganguly’s house, his club as well as Eden Gardens Stadium as part of preparations for the role.

Earlier there were some date issues but now it is believed Ranbir has given his nod.

The much-talked-about biopic was announced in 2021 and since then names like Sidharth Malhotra, and Hrithik Roshan were doing the rounds for playing the cricketer.

“Yes, I have agreed to the biopic. It will be in Hindi but it is not possible to reveal the name of the director now. It will take some more time for everything to be finalised,” Ganguly had then told News 18 Bangla.

According to various reports, Sourav Ganguly has given his nod for the final draft of the film, and the shooting will start soon in Kolkata.

Luv Films will produce the biopic. The production house founded by filmmaker Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg, had shared the film announcement in 2021.

Ganguly had also confirmed the news on social media with the caption “Let’s get this ball rolling”.

“Cricket has been everything in my life, it gave confidence and ability to walk forward with my head held high, a journey to be cherished.

“Thrilled to share Luv Films will produce a biopic on my journey and bring it to life for the big screen (sic),” the celebrated cricketer wrote in an Instagram post.

Luv Films has produced films such as ‘Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety’, ‘De De Pyaar De’, ‘Malang’ and ‘Chhalaang’. Their recent film 'Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar' starring Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor will release on March 8.
