Rajinikanth Signs His 170th Film With 'Jai Bhim' Director TJ Gnanavel

As per reports, Rajinikanth will be seen playing the role of Muslim police officer in the film.

New Delhi: Superstar Rajinikanth has signed up for his 170th film. The actor has almost completed his upcoming Tamil project 'Jailer' and will now begin working on this mega project which is being helmed by Lyca Productions. For those unaware, Lyca Productions is the banner which has bankrolled films like 'RRR', 'PS-1', and 'Pushpa'. Lyca Productions on Thursday announced on their official social media handle that Rajinikanth's next will be produced by them and directed by TJ Gnanavel. The untitled film will be released in 2024.

TJ Gnanavel is known for the critically-acclaimed film 'Jai Bhim', the national-award winning Tamil film which was appreciated across the country. Now, the filmmaker will be collaborating with Rajinikanth for Thalaivar's 170th. 

“We are feeling honoured to announce our next association with Superstar @rajinikanth for#Thalaivar170. Directed by critically acclaimed @tjgnan. Music by the sensational “Rockstar”@anirudhofficial (sic),” read the tweet by Lyca Productions.

 

As per reports, Rajinikanth will be seen playing the role of Muslim police officer in the film.

Meanwhile, Rajinikanth's current project 'Jailer' will soon enter post-production after the shoot wraps up. Rajinikanth is collaborating with director Nelson for the first time on this film. Recently, Rajinikanth was in Jaisalmer to shoot for a portion of the film. A video of him being mobbed by the fans outside the Jaisalmer fort had gone viral on social media.

In 'Jailer', Rajinikanth will essay the role of a prison jailer and the film has predominantly been shot entirely inside a prison. The film also stars Mohanlal, Jackie Shroff in key roles apart from Tamannaah Bhatia,Ramya Krishnan, and Shivrajkumar.

Rajinikanth also has a film with his daughter Aishwarya Rajinikanth titled 'Laal Salaam'. The megastar will be seen in a cameo in the film. With 'Laal Salaam', Aishwarya will return to direction after a gap of seven years. The film will star Vishnu Vishala nd Vikrant in the lead roles.
