Raima Sen's 'Maa Kaali' Set For World Premiere At 55th International Film Festival Of India
Raima Sen's much-anticipated film 'Maa Kaali' is set to make its world premiere at the prestigious 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI).
New Delhi: ‘Maa Kaali’, a powerful trilingual film produced by the renowned People Media Factory, is set for its world premiere at the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI). Known for producing the National Award-winning Karthikeya 2, People Media Factory brings this thought-provoking film, directed by Vijay Yelakanti, to the prestigious platform in Goa.
With Raima Sen and Abhishek Singh in the lead, ‘Maa Kaali’ sheds light on a neglected period in India's history, the events leading up to Direct Action Day in 1946. The film exposes the brutal massacres that took place in Calcutta and Naokhali, which are now part of India and Bangladesh, respectively. It also highlights the ongoing religious tensions in Bangladesh, where the Hindu community faces growing persecution.
Scheduled for its world premiere on November 26, 2024, at 7 p.m. at IFFI, the event will be attended by director Vijay Yelakanti, the film's producers from People Media Factory, along with actors Raima Sen and Abhishek Singh. Goa’s Hon’ble Chief Minister, Pramod Sawant, is also expected to make a special appearance at the premiere.
Earlier, CM Sawant met with the ‘Maa Kaali’ team and expressed his support for the film, praising its effort to reveal an erased part of Indian history.
Director Vijay Yelakanti shared his thoughts on the film, saying, “Maa Kaali is not just a mass entertainer, but a film that encourages deep thinking. It aims to teach a lesson to ensure history doesn’t repeat itself. We are extremely proud that IFFI recognized the significance of our vision.”
