Priyanka Chopra Calls RRR A ‘Tamil film’, Fans React To The Actor's Blunder

Priyanka Chopra Jonas calls the Telugu movie 'RRR' as a "Tamil film" in a recent interview.

New Delhi: Priyanka Chopra Jonas labeled the Telugu movie 'RRR' as a "Tamil film" in a recent interview on the podcast series Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard. Since the movie was nominated for an Oscar, the actor has been a strong supporter of SS Rajamouli's masterpiece.

Fans have therefore been stunned by this blunder. She even went to the American screening of the movie and praised it. When Ram Charan and his wife Upasana visited the US before the Oscars, Priyanka even hosted them at her home in Los Angeles.

The Bollywood actor also posted on social media while sharing a photo with SS Rajamouli and MM Keeravani. “Least I can do to contribute to this incredible Indian film’s journey. Good luck and congratulations @RRRMovie,” she wrote.

Priyanka was actually correcting the interviewer who dubbed RRR a Bollywood film during the interview. Hence, when Dax Shepard compared Bollywood to the 50s of Hollywood, when a few major actors and studios controlled everything, Priyanka nodded and added,“I don’t think you are far from it. I think that was what it was… big studios, five actors… big movies will be made by them; but the game is changed so much now. First of all, it’s streaming. It has given access to so many people who are making content.”

“Bollywood has evolved in such an incredible way. You have the mainstream big action and the love story and the dancing…” she added.

Priyanka promptly corrected Dax when he interrupted her by saying, "RRR," and clarifying, "That's a Tamil movie, by the way."

And it wasn't the only time she referred to it as a Tamil film. "It’s like big, mega, blockbuster Tamil which does all of those… it’s like our Avengers,” the actor mentioned.

Priyanka Chopra recently disclosed the real reason she began looking for work outside of Bollywood. Speaking to Dax Shepherd she said,"I was being pushed into a corner in the industry (Bollywood). I had people not casting me, I had beef with people, I am not good at playing that game so I kind of was tired of the politics and I said I needed a break.”

On the work front, Priyanka Chopra will be next seen in 'Jee Le Zara' which also stars Katrina Kaif and Alia Bhatt.
