‘Ponniyin Selvan 1 & 2’ are based on the successful book of the same name by Kalki Krishnamurthy which was published in 1955. There have been many attempts to adapt the novel into celluloid but Mani Ratnam’s has been the most successful and fruitful one.
Most of the ensemble cast including Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha, Jayaram, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, among others are likely to return to ‘PS-2’.
Touted to be Mani Ratnam’s dream project, ‘Ponniyin Selvan 2’ will be released on April 28, 2023 and will be clashing with Salman Khan's 'Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan' in theatres. The Salman Khan film has already collected Rs.68 crores on its opening weekend at the box office.
