Ponniyin Selvan 2 Box Office Collection Day 3: Mani Ratnam's Historic Drama Mints Rs 150 Cr Worldwide

In only three days, PS2 has earned more money globally than Bholaa (Rs 111 crore), Vaathi (Rs 118 crore) and Dasara (Rs 116 crore).

New Delhi: Mani Ratnam's magnum opus ‘Ponniyin Selvan 2’ is doing amazingly well at the box office. PS-2 has apparently won over moviegoers as well as reviewers. After raking in about Rs 50 crore in its first two days, the film reportedly earned another Rs 30 crore on its third day, bringing its domestic total to above Rs 80 crore, as reported by Sacnilk. The film made more than Rs 150 crore throughout the globe in only three days. 

Film expert Ramesh Bala verified the box office collection of ‘Ponniyin Selvan 2’ in his recent tweet. Bala wrote on Twitter, “Ponniyin Selvan 2 has crossed Rs 150 crore gross at the worldwide box office in 3 days…”. 

There was a whopping 63.25 percent Tamil audience attendance on Sunday, and approximately 20 percent Hindi audience attendance, all of which contributed to the film's remarkable total profit. 

In only three days, PS2 has earned more money globally than Bholaa (Rs 111 crore), Vaathi (Rs 118 crore) and Dasara (Rs 116 crore).

The film review on ABP Live reads: “The film has put itself in a separate league where the drama takes centre stage as opposed to flashy action sequences, despite the internet drawing parallels to the epic 'Baahubali'. The only time we see swords clashing and a gory battlefield is during the final moments, but the political drama keeps you glued every step of the way. 'Ponniyin Selvan: Part 2' is one of the rare sequels that not only lives up to, but much exceeds, the expectations spawned by the first part.”

'Ponniyin Selvan 1' went on to make approximately Rs 490 crores around the world, ranking third among Indian films for the year in terms of box office revenue. Mani Ratnam, B Jeyamohan, and Elango Kumaravel adapted the movie from a classic Tamil novel by Kalki Krishnamurthy. 

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha Krishnan, R Sarathkumar, Jayaram, Prabhu, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Vikram Prabhu, and Prakash Raj are among the actors who appear in 'Ponniyin Selvan 2'. Academy Award winner AR Rahman wrote the soundtrack for the flicks.
