Padmini, who seemed excited to meet th Prince of Wales, greeted him with a garland and planted a kiss on his cheeks.
Padmini's kiss with Prince Charles became the talk of the town in the 80s and grabbed several eyeballs. Unlike today's time, it was considered a big deal to kiss someone in public, specially for an actress.
Kohlapure, while talking to a leading daily in 2013, said, "After this incident, I once went to the UK where the Immigration Officer asked me if you were the one who kissed Prince Charles?"
Padmini said that she was embarrassed when the officer recognised her as the lady, who kissed Prince Charles. The 'Pyar Jhukta Nahi' actress had rejected several films, which were later offered to other actresses and proved to be big hits. The movies like Ek Duje Ke Liye, Silsila and Tohfa were intially offered to Kolhapure; however Rati Agnihotri, Rekha and Sridevi worked in the respective projects after she declined the offer.
'You can't do all the films you were offered. The same thing happened to me and I had to say no to the makers for some reason," Padmini told a leading daily.
