Payal Ghosh Lodges Complaint Against Anurag Kashyap At Mumbai's Versova Police Station

Payal Ghosh filed a written complaint against filmmaker Anurag Kashyap under various sections of the IPC at Versova police station on Tuesday (September 22).

New Delhi: Actress Payal Ghosh, who accused Anurag Kashyao of sexual harassment, has filed a written complaint against the filmmaker at Mumbai’s Versova Police station on Tuesday (September 22). The ‘Patel Ki Punjabi Shaadi’ actress has lodged a complaint against the ‘Gangs Of Wasseypur’ director under various sections of the IPC. ALSO READ| EXCLUSIVE: Payal Ghosh Spills The Bean About Sexual Harassment Incident With Anurag Kashyap Payal Ghosh, also seen in Star Plus ‘Saath Nibhana Saathiya’, was supposed to file an FIR at Mumbai’s Oshiwara police station on Monday (September 21). She was spotted at the police station at late night; however, she couldn’t register her complaint due to absence of lady constable. "A written complaint has been lodged for the offence Rape, wrongful restrain, wrongful confinement and outraging the modesty of woman U/S 376, 354, 341, 342 of IPC and now the statement is being recorded of the victim," Ghosh’s lawyer Nitin said in a statement. Payal, who has worked in South films like ‘Prayanam’,’ Mr. Rascal’ and ‘Oosaravelli’, accused Kashyap of sexual misconduct. She alleged that the 'Choked' director tried to force himself on her. The actress tagged PMO India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Twitter handles while requesting for security on social media. Anurag Kashyap denied all the #MeToo allegations against him on Twitter and called them 'baseless'. His lawyer Priyanka Khimani released a statement, which read: "My client, Anurag Kashyap, has been deeply pained by the false allegations of sexual misconduct that have recently surfaced against him. These allegations are completely false, malicious and dishonest. It is sad that a social movement as important as the #metoo movement has been co-opted by vested interests and reduced to a mere tool for character assassination." Several tinsel town celebs including Taapsee Pannu, Huma Qureshi, Hansal Mehta came out in Kashyap's support. Kangana Ranaut, who was recently engaged in a war of words with the 'Black Friday' director, extended support to Payal Ghosh and demanded Kashyap's arrest. She said that the truth will eventually come out. “There are a thousand effort everyday to suppress my voice. The plot to change the twist everyday is happening. This is what happens when someone without a filmy background raises the voices. Let the time come, the truth is going to come out .. it's eventual #metoo,” Ghosh wrote on the micro-blogging site.
