Laxmii: Akshay Kumar Starrer Becomes Biggest Opening Movie On Disney+ Hotstar VIP

Akshay Kumar's 'Laxmii' has emerged as the biggest opening movie ever on the leading OTT platform.

New Delhi: Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar starrer 'Laxmii', which premiered directly on Disney+ Hotstar VIP on November 9, has shattered all the records on the leading OTT platform. The Raghava Lawrence directorial has managed to grab maximum eyeballs, all thanks to the huge hype surrounding the highly-anticipated flick. Movie buffs have been eagerly waiting for the film ever since the trailer was unveiled last month. Although, the horror comedy drama co-starring Kiara Advani has received mixed reviews from the critics, it has generated a lot of buzz on social media. 'Laxmii' REVIEW: Yay Or Nay! How Is Akshay Kumar's New Film? Akshay Kumar, who played the role of a transgender in 'Laxmii', is overwhelmed with the amazing response. The 'PadMan' star had promised the fans to deliver a big 'Diwali Dhamaka' and he didn't disappoint them. "I am overwhelmed and overjoyed by the response that Laxmii received. It’s heartening to know that audiences and fans from across the country logged on to Disney+ Hotstar VIP to watch the movie within hours of its release. 'Laxmii', which is the Hindi remake of Tamil hit 'Muni: Kanchana 2', also starred Rajesh Sharma, Ayesha Raza Mishra, Manu Rishi Chadha and Sharad Kelkar in key roles. The film was originally titled 'Laxmmi Bomb' but the makers decided to change the name following major uproar. Akshay Kumar, known for his acting prowess, was seen in a different avatar in the horror comedy. Khiladi Kumar wore sarees and bangles as he played the role of a character, who was possessed by the spirit of a transgender. Popular TV actor Sharad Kelkar, who has also done several films, received praises from the fans for his performance. One user tweeted,  "Honestly speaking being @akshaykumar fan i can say @SharadK7 just steals the show with his 15 minutes cameo. Overall a good watch."
