Aamir Khan Attends Laapataa Ladies Screening At Supreme Court, CJI Says 'Don't Want Stampede In Court'

Bollywood actor Aamir Khan made a visit to the Supreme Court on Friday for a special screening of his film 'Laapataa Ladies' for the judges.

Bollywood actor Aamir Khan made a visit to the Supreme Court on Friday for a special screening of his film 'Laapataa Ladies' for the judges. Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud warmly welcomed Khan, acknowledging his presence before the screening.

"I don't want a stampede in the court, but we welcome Mr. Aamir Khan who is here for the screening of the film. Director Kiran Rao will also join us soon," Chief Justice was quoted as saying by PTI. 

'Laapataa Ladies' is a film that offers an empowering and heartwarming narrative about two brides in rural India who are mistakenly swapped during a train journey. The movie is produced by Kiran Rao’s Kindling Productions alongside Aamir Khan Productions. 

Supreme Court organises screening of Laapataa Ladies

The Supreme Court organised a special screening of the film for judges, their families, and court officials, on Friday. This event was part of the activities commemorating the seventy-fifth anniversary of the Supreme Court of India's establishment. 

"As part of the activities organised during the seventy-fifth year of the establishment of the Supreme Court of India, the movie Laapataa Ladies, which is based on the theme of gender equality, will be screened on Friday, August 9, 2024, in the Auditorium, C-block, Administrative Building Complex," read a communication circulated by the administration section of the apex court.

Kiran Rao expressed her pride and gratitude for the film's screening at the Supreme Court, calling it a "rare honour." 

"It fills my heart with immense pride to see Laapataa Ladies making history by being screened at the Supreme Court of India. I am deeply grateful to the honourable Chief Justice of India D.Y. Chandrachud for this rare honour. From the beginning, we had hoped that the story of Phool and Jaya would resonate deeply, but the outpouring of love from audiences has been nothing short of extraordinary, far exceeding our expectations. Thank you all for giving our film such love and support!" Rao said in a statement.
