New Delhi: The box office haul of director Karan Johar's most recent film, 'Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani', thrilled the stars Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh and other team members. He attended a press conference for the movie on Thursday alongside the main cast and crew, where he answered all the queries that the press and viewers. Everyone was drawn to the scene in the movie where Ranveer Singh and Churni Ganguly go 'bra shopping'.

The sequence was also influenced by a personal event, said Karan, who previously talked about how Tota Roy Chowdhury's character had a special place in his heart. Rocky, played by Ranveer, is seen in the moment excited to go shopping with Rani's mother. After that, he feels uncomfortable to be there or even touching a bra. Then Rani's mother tells him about how men find it unpleasant or embarrassing to touch a woman's bra, despite the fact that their mothers and spouses have been washing their underwear for years.

At the press conference, Karan revealed that he had also once gone bra shopping for his mother. The director revealed that while buying lingerie for his mother was nothing out of the ordinary for him, those around him were "horrified" when they heard about it.

“I’ve gone shopping for her (mother) to buy a bra and it’s never been a problem with me. But I do know that while I did it there were friends, who were with me and were horrified that I was actually doing this and why I wasn’t designating this job to a female friend of mine. And I was like, ‘Why?’ It was asked by my mother, so why would I send somebody else to do it?” he said.

Johar further mentioned that his mother is 81 years old so he gets her whatever she needs. “It could be a bra, it could be any other item. For me, that scene felt organic, also because I knew there was discomfort around it. There’s a line where Churni says ‘sadiyon se aurtein mardo ke chaddiyan ghis rahi hai, aur tum ek bra ko nahi touch kar sakte?’. That, too, was a very definitive of what people feel about it,” he added.

The movie 'Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani' is currently running with favourable reviews in theatres. So far, it grossed in Rs 73 crore at the domestic box office.
