New Delhi: The box office collection of Karan Johar's ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ has surpassed more than Rs 70 crore in only one week. Even though the film's opening weekend gross was just Rs 11.1 crore, it was able to survive thanks to enthusiastic audience reactions and favourable reviews. Starring Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh, the film earned Rs 6.25 crore on its seventh day, marking a little decline from the previous day.
On Friday, Dharma Productions posted the total collection of the movie and wrote, "We are 'so hepppy, so hepppy' that you are showering this kahaani with so much prem!"
There aren't any big films coming out on Friday, so it seems like Karan Johar’s movie will have no competition in its second weekend and comfortably make over Rs 100 crore. Fans are flocking to cinemas to see the romantic drama.
Yesterday, the ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ crew celebrated the film’s success by arranging a press meet. Karan Johar expressed gratitude for the positive reception, saying it felt like he was making his directorial debut all over again. PTI quoted Karan as saying, "There was a seven-year gap and I had forgotten what it was like to direct a film and receive feedback."
ABP Live’s review called the film a perfect ‘Bollywood masala family entertainer.’ The review read: 'Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani' ticks all the mainstream family entertainer films that offer a no-brainer story, is lavishly designed and decorated, songs to watch on a big screen, laughs to be shared with fellow movie-watchers, and A-listers with great chemistry. Karan Johar makes a film unabashedly unapologetic, and for that, he gets full marks for keeping his signature alive.
