New Delhi: The fourth instalment of the action franchise John Wick, starring Keanu Reeves, was released on Friday. According to early estimates, the film is projected to earn Rs 10 cr on Friday. 'John Wick: Chapter 4' has been released in four languages, including English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
As per a Pinkvilla report, the movie earned Rs 2.25-2.50 crore from its Thursday previews.
This instalment continues the story of legendary hitman John Wick (Keanu Reaves) as he navigates a world of danger and betrayal.
The action franchise started with 2014’s ‘John Wick’, about a retired assassin who returns to the world he had left behind to avenge the murder of a pup, a gift from his late wife.
It was followed by two sequels — ‘John Wick: Chapter 2’ (2017) and ‘John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum’ (2019).
Veteran actor Ian McShane, who plays the role of hotel owner and close friend to Keanu Reeves’ eponymous assassin in the movie franchise, had said that John Wick films have become bigger and better with each installment.
“They’re terrific films to do. We’ve become great friends. Keanu is great to work with. It’s been a pleasure over the last 10 years, though it doesn’t seem like 10 years. The films have gotten bigger, better and there’s more action. I’m just glad that I’m observing it from the outside,” the 80-year-old actor told PTI in a virtual interview.
Shot in New York, Osaka, Berlin and Paris, the film also stars Donnie Yen, Bill Skarsgard, Laurence Fishburne, Hiroyuki Sanada, Shamier Anderson and Rina Sawayama.
John Wick: Chapter 4 review
ABP Live’s review of the film reads: “While Reeves has fewer lines in this film compared to any other in the saga up to this point, he perfectly delivers Wick’s conviction while also lending the character an emotional touch that gives this chapter more complexity. Like its main protagonist, the action franchise that has been hailed as a rare breed has aged like fine wine, and Chapter 4 stands to be the finest of them all. With the artfully shot combat scenes to the seamless character arc of Wick, the film, which has a tight screenplay and eye-catching aesthetics, has grown into becoming a benchmark for its franchise and others of the same genre.”
