I stand by my statement, says Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam
New Delhi: Bollywood Singer Sonu Nigam sparked controversy for himself when he tweeted early morning on Monday. Sonu wrote on Twitter, “God bless everyone. I'm not a Muslim and I have to be woken up by the Azaan in the morning. When will this forced religiousness end in India".
His tweet was particularly aimed at use of loudspeakers. "And by the way Mohammed did not have electricity when he made Islam.. Why do I have to have this cacophony after Edison?" he wrote on micro-blogging site. But this became a good debate topic for some politicians on the name of religion.
Now today, after facing a lot of flak over his tweet, Sonu has said that he still stands by what he said. Writing on Twitter he said, “Dear everyone. Your stand exposes your own IQ. I stand by my statement that loudspeakers should not be allowed in Mosques & Temples. Period.”
Singer also retweeted one of ABP Live’s video:Dear everyone. Your stand exposes your own IQ. I stand by my statement that loudspeakers should not be allowed in Mosques & Temples. Period
