Genelia D'Souza Makes Acting Comeback With Riteish Deshmukh's Directorial Debut, Says 'Always Yearned To Do Marathi Film'
Genelia D'Souza will be seen playing a key role in Riteish Deshmukh's upcoming Marathi film.
New Delhi: Bollywood actress Genelia D'Souza shared a post on social media to confirm that she will return to the silver screen with a new project, which will also mark the directorial debut of her husband Riteish Deshmukh. Interesting, the 'Force' star is making her acting comeback with a Marathi film. Although she didn’t divulge details about the movie, Genelia dropped a video from the sets on her official Instagram handle.
What Did Genelia D’Souza Post?
The 'Jaane Tu Ya Jaane' actress said that she always wanted to act in a Marathi film and was hoping to find the perfect script. She wrote, "Have been blessed to be part of movies in so many languages and receive love and respect from all. Being born in Maharashtra, my heart yearned to do a film in Marathi for years and was hoping there would be a script where I could just say this is it."
Genelia is on cloud nine as Riteish has donned the hat of the director for the new film, which is being produced under their production house. "And then this happened - My first Marathi film, me coming back to acting after 10 long years and being part of a dream where my husband Riteish Deshmukh directs for the first time and I get to share space with a beautiful Co- Actor Jiya Shankar who gets introduced under our production house MFC," she added.
D'Souza requested her followers to extend their warm wishes as she embarked on a new journey. "I would humbly request loads of blessings from each one of you, because films are always a journey and we would love if you could be on this journey with us," her post read.

Riteish Deshmukh Shares Poster Of New Film
The 'Dhamaal' actor took to social media to share the first poster of his Marathi movie. He wrote, "After being in front of the camera for 20 years, I take a big leap to stand behind it for the first time. As I direct my first marathi film, I humbly ask you all for your good wishes and blessings. Be a part of this journey, be a part of this madness. वेड (Madness)."
Maniesh Paul, Sophie Choudry, Remo D'Souza and other celebs dropped comments on the post and wished him good luck as he is foraying into direction.
Genelia was last seen in a full-fledged role in Telugu film 'Naa Ishtam', which released in 2012. In the last few years, she opted to play cameo roles in movies like 'Force 2', 'Lai Bhaari' and 'Jai Ho'.
