Gadar 2 Box Office: Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel Film Collects Rs. 55 Cr On Independence Day Alone, Total Tally Rs. 229 Cr

'Gadar 2' is sure to set the record of becoming one of the biggest Hindi films of all time.

New Delhi: 'Gadar 2' is sure to set the record of becoming one of the biggest Hindi films of all time. 'Gadar 2' is the sequel of the blockbuster 'Gadar' starring Ameesha Patel and Sunny Deol in the lead. The film collected Rs. 55 crores on Independence Day, its biggest single-day haul on Independence Day. The figures were shared by the industry tracker site Sacnilk. As per the same, this is the biggest Independence Day collection for a film in Indian cinema. The box office collection of 'Gadar 2' is now Rs. 229 crores in India.

'Gadar 2' had an overall occupancy of 88% in the HIndi belt. Many single screen theatres in small cities are running to full houses. Mainly targeting the North Indian audiences, 'Gadar 2' has taken the lion's share of profits from the North while Rajinikanth's 'Jailer' is smashing box office records in South India.

'Gadar 2' is clashing with Akshay Kumar's 'OMG 2' at the box office. As per a Box Office India report, had 'Gadar 2' released solo, the Sunny Deol film would have done even better.

'Gadar 2' collected Rs. 40 cr on Day 1, Rs. 43 cr on Day 2, Rs. 51 cr on day 2, TRs. 38 cr on day 4, and Rs. 55 cr on Day 5 taking the total tally to Rs. 229 crores in India alone.

The film is all set to break the record of 'The Kerala Story' and in time, perhaps even the Shah Rukh Khan starrer 'Pathaan' which was released earlier this year.

Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh initiated  a poll on Twitter asking netizens if 'Gadar 2' will surpass the lifetime business of 'Pathaan'.

The first ‘Gadar’ was released in 2001. It clashed with ‘Lagaan’ and became one of the biggest blockbusters of that year earning Rs. 130 crores. The film was also directed by Anil Sharma.
