Mumbai: Popular film critic Rashid Irani died at the age of 74. Reportedly, he probably passed away on July 30 at his home. When Rashid Irani was not seen for around 2-3 days reportedly, the police and the people searched for him and found his dead body inside his home.
Mumbai Press Club shared the news from their official Twitter account and wrote, “Rashid Irani, 74, one of the country's foremost film critics, passed away probably on 30 July at home. He was not seen for 2-3 days; a search by friends, club officials and police led to his home, where his mortal remains were found. #Rashidirani”.
In another tweet, they wrote, “He was one of the pillars of the Mumbai Press Club Film Society, and a core member of the club, who didn't miss a day at the media centre writing his reviews and watching films. He will be missed sorely by all members and staff. Details about his funeral will be announced soon.”
Filmmaker Karan Johar took to his Twitter account and mourned the loss of the film critic. KJo tweeted, “Rest in peace Rashid….I remember all our interactions and conversations so fondly…. Your insight on Cinema will always be treasured….”
Meanwhile, speaking on the professional front, Karan Johar will be next seen directing Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in the upcoming movie 'Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani'. The movie will also feature Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan and Shaban Azmi.
