Ranveer And Alia To Play North Indian-Bengali Couple In KJo’s ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’?

Mumbai: Ranveer Singh’s birthday started with a bang as filmmaker Karan Johar announced his next directorial venture ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’, featuring Singh and Alia Bhatt in the lead roles. While Ranveer and Alia will be seen portraying the lead pair, Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi will also be seen illustrating pivotal roles in this upcoming KJo drama.

Karan Johar, who is known for making iconic romantic films, is back to the director’s chair after ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’, which released 5 years back. Fans are excited to see the director bring out Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt’s characters on-screen. According to a report of ETimes, this love story will be between a North Indian and a Bengali both living in Delhi, where Ranveer will play the role of a North Indian guy and Alia will portray the role of a Bengali girl. The report further added that the shooting will commence sometime in August.

Meanwhile, while announcing his upcoming project, Karan Johar tweeted, “Thrilled to get behind the lens with my favourite people in front of it! Presenting Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, headlined by none other than Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt and written by Ishita Moitra, Shashank Khaitan & Sumit Roy.”

He also welcomed Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi in a unique way where Ranveer and Alia’s voice-over welcomed these legendary actors. The director tweeted, “Meet the legendary stars of Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. We are all thrilled to work with these veteran legends and I cannot wait to be on set with them!  #RockyAurRaniKiPremKahani #RRKPK”.

Meanwhile, other than ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’, both Alia and Ranveer have other projects in their kitty. While Ranveer will be next seen featuring in ‘83’, ‘Sooryavanshi’, ‘Jayeshbhai Jordaar’ and ‘Cirkus’, Alia will feature in ‘RRR’, ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ and ‘Brahmastra’. Both Ranveer and Alia will star in Karan Johar magnum opus ‘Takht’ which will witness an ensemble cast of Anil Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Janhvi Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar and others.
