'Emergency' Trailer Out: Kangana Ranaut Turns Indira Gandhi To Give A Glimpse Into 'India's Darkest Chapter'

'Emergency' Trailer Out: Kangana plays the role of Indira Gandhi, the prime minister who declared the Emergency in 1975.

New Delhi: The official trailer of ‘Emergency’, Kangana Ranaut's much-anticipated directorial debut, has finally been out. Among the major historical events covered in the film are the growth of the Khalistan movement and the Emergency era. In addition to helming and producing the film, Kangana plays the role of Indira Gandhi, the prime minister who declared the Emergency in 1975.

This intricate story follows young Indira Gandhi as she navigates political upheaval and conflicts, as well as her connection with her father, the late Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, as seen in the trailer. The turbulent events that transpired during Indira Gandhi's 1975 Emergency are the intended setting of the film.

Sharing the official trailer, Kangana wrote, "INDIA is INDIRA & INDIRA is INDIA!!! The Most Powerful Woman In The History of the country, The Darkest Chapter She Wrote in its History! Witness ambition collide with tyranny."

Fans are looking forward to seeing the film since it explores a contentious and important time in India's political history. Actress Mrunal Thakur commented, "What A Promising Trailer".

‘Emergency’ Release Date

After her political campaign caused a delay, Kangana Ranaut has now set a new date for the film's release. After Kangana won the Lok Sabha seat in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, she changed the release timetable and unveiled a new poster. Now, the film will finally open in theatres on September 6, 2024.

The film also include Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhary, Vishak Nair, Shreyas Talpade, Milind Soman, and the late Satish Kaushik.

Meanwhile, Kangana was last seen in 'Tejas'. On October 27, 2023, the film was released to mostly poor reviews from reviewers. With the majority of theatres cancelling showings on the first day of the film's release, 'Tejas' quickly became one of the worst box office disasters in Hindi cinema.
