Ekta Kapoor Says She May Have To Go Into Hiding After Love, Sex Aur Dhokha 2 Release

Ekta Kapoor, who saw success in her latest venture ‘Crew’, said that she might have to go into hiding after the release of ‘Love, Sex Aur Dhokha 2' directed by Dibakar Banerjee.

New Delhi: Unlike her television serials, Ekta Kapoor has always made bold and unconventional choices when it comes to producing films. The producer, who saw success in her latest venture ‘Crew’, is now gearing up for the release of ‘Love, Sex Aur Dhokha 2.’ In a recent interview, Ekta said that she might have to go into hiding after the release of the film directed by Dibakar Banerjee.

Ekta Kapoor on the backlash she faced after ‘Thank You For Coming’
In a conversation with Variety, Ekta spoke about Karan Boolani's sex comedy ‘Thank You For Coming’, which was produced by her, and response she got after the movie, and why she thinks ‘Love, Sex Aur Dhokha 2’ will get an even more extreme response.

Reflecting on the aftermath of 'Thank You For Coming,' Ekta told Variety, “It has left a very strange pain in my heart because the way that film was and the kind of reception it got in India, vis-a-vis the reception it got overseas, I don’t know what happened." Co-produced by Ekta and Rhea Kapoor, 'Thank You For Coming,' featuring Bhumi Pednekar in the lead, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival to critical acclaim but didn’t do great at the Indian box office.

Ekta Kapoor on her apprehensions about ‘Love, Sex Aur Dhokha 2’
Ekta shared that the backlash she received for 'Thank You For Coming' has left her apprehensive about the potential reactions to the much bolder 'LSD 2' upon its release. “And the hate spamming we went through – our walls used to be spammed every day with hatred, because we attempted to discover and make a movie on female sexuality. I can only imagine what’s gonna happen when LSD 2 comes. I think I’ll have to hide again,” she told Variety.

About Love, Sex Aur Dhokha 2
‘Love, Sex Aur Dhokha 2’ is a sequel to the groundbreaking anthology ‘Love, Sex Aur Dhokha,’ which was also directed by Dibakar and produced by Ekta's Balaji Motion Pictures. The film also marked the debut of actor Rajkummar Rao.

While speaking to ANI, Dibakar Banerjee had shared that the sequel was Ekta Kapoor’s idea. “It wasn't my idea, it was Ekta's idea. She suggested that enough time had passed and society had changed so much that we could make LSD 2. In the time of LSD 2, our virtual life has now completely dominated our real life. So this virtual life that we live in, I wanted to see how it was happening,” he told ANI.

The film, starring Mouni Roy, Tushar Kapoor, Sophie Choudry among many other new faces, is scheduled to hit cinemas on April 19.
