Mumbai: Veteran Bollywood actor Dilip Kumar underwent a surgery on Wednesday (June 9) at PD Hinduja Hospital in Mumbai. The doctors performed pleural aspiration on the 98-year-old actor to remove fluid from his lungs. The procedure is usually carried to remove phlegm accumulated in the lungs, cure difficulty in breathing and chest pain. 


Dilip Kumar's pleural aspiration was conducted between 1.30 pm and 2.00 pm on Wednesday afternoon during which 350 ml of fluid was removed from his lungs. The surgery was performed under the supervision of Dr. Nitin Gokhale and Dr. Jalil Parkar. 


Dr. Jalil Parker exclusively talked to ABP News after performing Dilip Kuma’s surgery. He said, “Dilip Kumar has been kept in the ICU. His condition is better after the pleural spiration. His oxygen level has also improved when compared to before. If he continues to improve quickly in the same way, then he can be discharged from the hospital on Thursday.” 



Dilip Kumar was admitted to Hinduja Hospital due to severe breathing problems. The thespian was undergoing treatment in the general ward since Sunday. He was being given oxygen continuously after his oxygen level dropped. The actor was shifted to the ICU post his surgery. The doctors and other medical staff are taking special care of Kumar after fluid was removed from his lungs.
