Mumbai: Deepika Padukone and Sanjay Leela Bhansali have a hundred percent success rate. The duo has delivered three blockbusters in the form of ‘Ram Leela’, ‘Bajirao Mastani’ and ‘Padmaavat’. It won’t be wrong to say that SLB’s films have established Deepika as one of the leading ladies in Bollywood. 

If a recent report in an entertainment portal is to be believed, Deepika and Sanjay Leela Bhansali are all set to reunite for a new film. Yes, you read that right! 

The two tinsel town celebs will collaborate for ‘Baiju Bawra’, a report in Pinkvilla said. SLB has approached the ‘Piku’ actress to essay the character of a dacoit queen, Roopmati, in the film.  

Padukone is yet to sign the dotted lines and if things fall in place, the upcoming film will go on floors in mid 2022, the report in the portal said.  

Deepika and Bhansali have managed to set the box office on fire with their collaborations. Their last film together, ‘Padmaavat’, emerged as one of the biggest hits of 2018. The epic drama also starred Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor.  

Interestingly, the ‘Tamasha’ actress fell in love with Ranveer on the sets of ‘Ram Leela’, which was directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Their steamy kissing scene grabbed several eyeballs when the film released in 2013.  

Both Deepika and Sanjay are awaiting the releases of their respective films. While SLB’s ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ is scheduled to hit the silver screens on July 30, Padukone’s ‘83’ is slated to arrive next month.  

Kabir Khan’s ‘83’, which is based on India’s 1983 Cricket World Cup victory, is expected to get delayed due to the COVID-19 crisis. The highly anticipated sports drama stars Ranveer Singh as former Indian Cricket captain Kapil Dev. 

Deepika also has Shakun Batra’s next, Nag Ashwin’s upcoming project, Hindi remake of ‘The Intern’ and ‘Fighter’ in her kitty. She will be sharing screen-space with Hrithik for the first time in ‘Fighter’, which is slated to release next year.
