SRK Reunites With Sujoy Ghosh To Produce 'Bob Biswas' Featuring Abhishek Bachchan In Lead Role!

After 'Badla', Shah Rukh Khan & Sujoy Ghosh join hands again to co-produce a film titled 'Bob Biswas' based on Saswata Chatterjee's character from Vidya Balan's 'Kahaani'.

After the huge success of Amitabh Bachchan & Taapsee Pannu starrer 'Badla', Shah Rukh Khan's production house 'Red Chillies Entertainment' has reunited with Sujoy Ghosh for another film. However, this time Sujoy will only co-produce the film with SRK. Titled 'Bob Biswas', SRK & Sujoy Ghosh's joint production venture will feature Abhishek Bachchan in lead role. The upcoming film is based on a fictional character 'Bob Biswas' from Vidya Balan's much-acclaimed film 'Kahaani'. Film's official announcement was made on the official Twitter handle of SRK's 'Red Chillies Entertainment' today (25th November). In the post, SRK is seen posing with film's lead actor Abhishek Bachchan. The post reads, "Nomoshkar! Thrilled to announce our upcoming film, #BobBiswas in association with Bound Script Production; starring @juniorbachchan and directed by Diya Annapurna Ghosh. @gaurikhan @iamsrk @sujoy_g @_GauravVerma" Take a look at the post below: SRK then retweeted the same post and wrote, "#BobBiswas is coming to 'kill it!' Happy to associate with Bound Script Production to bring #BobBiswas, played by @juniorbachchan and directed by Diya Annapurna Ghosh." On a related note, the character of 'Bob Biswas' was shown as a poker-faced contract killer in 'Kahaani' whose trademark dialogue was "Nomoshkar, ek minute”. Saswata Chatterjee played the role of 'Bob Biswas' in 'Kahaani' and now the popular character is having a prequel with upcoming film. Take a look at a scene of Saswata Chatterjee as 'Bob Biswas' from 'Kahaani' below:

kahaani | This “cool” man [Bob Biswas], though, was a grotesque and strangely delicious subversion of the romanticized template: older, pot-bellied, polite, bland and the bespectacled “every-man,” complete with the most unassuming – and therefore, wildly frightening – catchphrase. “Nomoshkar,” purred Bob Biswas (notice the cheeky superhero/villain alliteration) in Sujoy Ghosh’s atmospheric Kahaani. “Ek minute,” he winced, as if apologetically asking for a pinch of salt. What a sweet, lonely middle-aged chap, we’d think. Bhadraloks must be bullying him. And with the disturbingly casual air of a grandfather fiddling with the remote, he whips out a gun and eliminates his “target.” Just like that. And then he proceeds back to the sarkaari Kolkata surroundings of an old-school Life Insurance office, back to his day job after a vastly fruitful lunch break. No explanations, no backstory, no remorse, no personality even – nothing. — Rahul Desai, Film Companion

'Bob Biswas' will mark the directorial debut of Diya Annapurna Ghosh whose previous short film was chosen for the prestigious Cannes Film Festival in 2018. The movie is slated to go on floors in early 2020 and will release in the same year. Keep watching this space for more updates!
