Barbie vs Oppenheimer Box Office Collection Day 5: Christopher Nolan Movie Stays Ahead, Margot Robbie Starrer Manages To Mint Rs 2.3 Crore

The two films are in direct competition at the Indian box office, where the Cillian Murphy starrer is reportedly drawing a solid revenue.

New Delhi: Even though Greta Gerwig's 'Barbie' and Christopher Nolan's 'Oppenheimer' are both getting huge numbers of viewers, the latter film continues to hold an upper hand in the leaderboard. The eagerly anticipated films are in direct competition at the Indian box office, where the Cillian Murphy starrer is reportedly drawing a solid revenue. 'Barbie', though, is currently beating 'Oppenheimer' internationally. Following their Friday releases, both films have broken several global box office records.

Sacnilk.com reports that on its fifth day in all languages, 'Oppenheimer' made Rs 6.25 crore nett in India. Nolan's film did well on its first four days in theatres leading to in nett earnings of Rs 55.75 crore in India. The movie has so far grossed approximately Rs 62 crore nett at the Indian box office in just five days.

The Pulitzer Prize–winning novel American Prometheus, written by Kai Bird and the late Martin J. Sherwin, is adapted as 'Oppenheimer'; it is based on the life of nuclear physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer, also referred to as the "Father of the Nuclear Bomb." Actor Cillian Murphy plays J. Robert Oppenheimer in the biopic.

According to early numbers cited by Sacnilk.com, 'Barbie' earned Rs 2.30 crore net on day five after its opening in India. As stated in the report, 'Barbie' had a nett opening day in India of Rs 5 crore and upped its revenue share on Saturday with a Rs 6.5 crore haul. On Sunday, it grew even further, hitting Rs 7.15 crore. The movie currently stands at an estimated Rs 23.45 crore nett.

The film review on ABP Live reads: The live-action 'Barbie' movie is an attempt to not spend much capital on scriptwriting and yet knowing that the fans will come to its rescue. The Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling film directed by Greta Gerwig uses the age-old concept of two worlds viz. Barbie World and the Real World exist in two different planes where neither is much aware that the other also exists. And, then those worlds need saving.

'Barbie' made $26 million on Monday, making it a Warner Bros. movie's best-ever box office outcome, according to Variety. This achievement surpasses the prior record of $24.6 million held by Christopher Nolan's famous movie 'The Dark Knight'.
