Babil Khan's 'Log Out' Premieres At Florence Indian Film Festival, 10 Years After Father Irrfan Khan's 'Qissa'

Babil Khan marked a significant moment in his career as his film 'Log Out' premiered at the 24th River to River Florence Indian Film Festival.

New Delhi: A decade after late actor Irrfan Khan's film ‘Qissa’ was shown at the same festival in Florence, Italy, actor Babil Khan paid tribute to his father's legacy with the screening of his film ‘Log Out’ at the 24th River to River Indian Film Festival. As a special guest at the 14th annual festival on December 7, 2014, Irrfan Khan saw the global premiere of Anup Singh's highly acclaimed film ‘Qissa’.

On December 7, 2024, precisely 10 years later, the past circled back. In keeping with his father's remarkable history, Babil Khan, Irrfan's son, released his film ‘Log Out’ at the same festival.

Babil plays an influencer in the present day who struggles with the downsides and upsides of internet popularity in ‘Log Out’. Despite his meteoric rise to internet fame, the protagonist must confront the shadowy side effects of a life lived inside the digital realm.

At the premiere, Babil was quite forthright about the film's message, saying, "I'll just tell you what the film is about. Today in our generation, in the age of social media, the motive of creation changes to complete validation rather than creation itself, and that's what it does to a human being. This film is about that."

The actor added, "The film is about what happens when our values become absorbed by superficial means of validation for our disillusioned self-worth, when all of our creation stems from that, the story hold’s itself in our generation’s status quo gripping itself to social media, the alarming rise in our need for instant gratification and the consumerism of selling ideals, happiness and positivity as products."
