New Delhi: Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra starrer 'Amar Singh Chamkila’ is all set to release on Netflix on April 12. A special screening of the film was organised on Monday (April 8) by Netflix in association with MAMI Mumbai Festival. The screening was attended by celebs like Mrunal Thakur, Daisy Shah, Bhuvam Bham, Avneet Kaur, Shweta Basu Prasad, and Ishwak Singh among others.

The celebs gave their reviews of the film directed by Imtiaz Ali post the screening and praised the film and Diljit for his portrayal of Amar Singh Chamkila, also known as ‘Elvis of Punjab’.
Shweta Basu Prasad said, “I’ll definitely recommend other people to watch the movie. It was like a live concert film. I just know the person (Amar Singh Chamkila) so much better. I think people should watch it for Diljit, Imtiaz sir and the music. It’s so well-made.”

About the movie
The movie is based on the life of the deceased Punjabi singer Amar Singh Chamkila, whose songs primarily explored themes of women's objectification, sexual violence, domestic abuse, and alcoholism. Chamkila and his wife Amarjot Kaur were killed on 8 March 1988.
