Filmmaker Gurinder Chadha's Aunt Dies Of Coronavirus Complications; Family Chants Sikh Prayers Through Video Call!

Filmmaker Gurinder Chadha recently lost her aunt to COVID-19 complications, the deceased succumbed to coronavirus on Sunday in a hospital in the UK. She took to social media to share the sad news and reveale that no one from her family could be with her aunt in her last moments. Gurinder Chaddha with Aishwarya Rai during the premiere of 'Bride And Prejudice' in 2004 In her Instagram post, Gurinder wrote, "Today we said goodbye to my dearest bhuaji /aunt from #covid19 complications. She was my dad''s little sister," Gurinder wrote alongside a family picture."She survived the Partiton of India and sadly for us, her family no one could be with her in person in her final moments," she added. The "Bend it like Beckham" director thanked two nurses in the Surrey hospital who held her aunt''s hand, FaceTimed her children who all chanted Sikh prayers during which "her soul departed." "God bless the #nhsheroes who made my dear aunts passing humane," she added.
Soon as she posted the heartfelt message for her late aunt, condolences and prayers poured in from her fans, friends and family. Gurinder Chadha is best-known for her films which explore the lives of the Indians in England. She has directed films such as, Bend It Like Beckham , Bride and Prejudice , The Mistress of Spices , Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging , Desi Rascals and Viceroy's House among others. Her last movie was the 2019 musical comedy-drama Blinded By The Light which starred Viveik Kalra, Kulvinder Ghir, Meera Ganatra and Nell Williams in lead roles. The deadly coronavirus has claimed more than 1,65,000 lives worldwide. In India, 519 deaths have been reported due to Covid-19, with over 16,000 coronavirus-positive cases.
