After Helping Migrant Workers, Sonu Sood Airlifts 177 Odia Girls From Kerala

Sonu Sood arranged a special aircraft from Bengaluru to airlift 177 Odia girls, who were stuck in Ernakulam amid the COVID-19 lockdown.

Mumbai: Bollywood actor Sonu Sood turned out to be a messiah for the migrant workers, who were stranded and unable to return back to their hometown due to the COVID-19 lockdown. The ‘Dabangg’ actor arranged buses to send back workers from states like Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand to their respective places. The ‘Simmba’ star has now come forward to help 177 girls, who were stuck in Kerala’s Ernakulam amid the lockdown.

Sonu Sood airlifted the 177 Odia girls, who worked in a local factory in Ernakulam. The girls used to do sewing and embroidery work. The actor said that he is very happy after sending the girls to their houses.

Sonu, while exclusively talking to ABP News, said, “When I came to know about these girls from a friend of mine in Bhubaneshwar, I decided to help them. I am happy to play in part in their transportation to their hometown.”

As soon as the ‘R Rajkumar’ actor came to know their plight, he tried to seek permission from Kochi and Bhubaneshwar airport authorities. A special aircraft was arranged from Bengaluru to airlift these girls from Kochi.

"All these girls were stuck in Kerala due to the lockdown, but now all of them will soon reach their homes in Bhubaneswar. Nothing can be more gratifying for me than to see them safely reach their homes," Sonu said.

The ‘Happy New Year’ actor, along with his close friend Neeti Goyal, is actively working to help the stranded migrant workers reach their home states since the past three weeks. Sonu Sood has launched a toll-free number for those, who wish to return to home. He is also extending help to the people, who are contacting him on Twitter.
