However, according to the latest report of IANS, Anupriya Patel, the Apna Dal MP from Uttar Pradesh's Mirzapur district, has demanded a ban on the web series, ‘Mirzapur 2’, saying it is spreading ethnic disharmony. The MP has also alleged that the series is maligning the image of Mirzapur by portraying it as a ‘violent’ region.
She told reporters that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Mirzapur “is a 'centre of harmony' and the matter must be investigated and strict action taken against those responsible for sullying its image”.
‘Mirzapur 2’ depicts the violent tale of feuds in families, politics and elections. Set in the town by the same name, the web series takes the audiences into the dark and complex world of guns, drugs and lawlessness.
The first part of the Amazon Prime original revolved around a crime lord named Kaleen bhaiya (Pankaj Tripathi) and how his empire is affected when two brothers, Guddu Pandit and Bablu Pandit (Ali Fazal and Vikrant Massey), accidentally become a part of his illegal businesses. However, trouble mounts later on when Kaleen Bhaiya's son Munna (Divyenndu) gets threatened by their presence. ‘Mirzapur 2’ continues the fight to the throng of Mirzapur between Munna and Guddu.
The web series features Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Shweta Tripathi, Vijay Verma, Divyendru Sharma, Rasika Dugal, Kulbhushan Kharbanda among others.
