Is Aamir Khan Going To Direct Son Junaid? Listen To His Answer And Take On Nepotism
The actor also touched upon the topic of nepotism in Bollywood and shared his views on the same.
New Delhi: Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan had a candid conversation at the ABP Ideas Of India, in Mumbai on Saturday. The actor discussed on various topics, including a shocking revelation about his decision to quit films and acting.
On being asked about what he did during the two years of the global pandemic, the superstar who is all set to rule the screens once again with his film 'Laal Singh Chaddha', revealed, "I had informed my family that I won't be doing any films from now onwards. Neither I'll act nor I will produce any films. Now, I just want to spend my time with you all. My family was shocked."
The actor also touched upon the topic of nepotism in Bollywood and shared his views on the same. Aamir negated the idea of nepotism and beautifully expressed his thoughts on it by giving a realistic example and posing a question to the host, Sumit Awasthi. He said, "As parents, we all give our children the liberty to pursue what they want in life, with the assurance that we would help them in whatever way possible." He went on to ask if this is termed as nepotism.
The superstar then said, "if a filmmaker rejects a talented artist on the basis of the fact that he is an outsider and rather, takes a starkid who probably might not be as good as an artist than the person being rejected, then that filmmaker is harming himself by taking the risk of ruining his film."
Aamir Khan, who is a father of three children, also talked about his elder son Junaid, making his debut in Bollywood, but after facing almost 15 rejections, and finally landing himself a role without the help of his father.
He said, "My son did not ask for work from me, neither did I offer him work. He went to different casting directors, got rejected umpteen times, and finally landed himself a role for which he has completed shooting recently. If I wanted, I could have just rang up people and asked them to cast him but I did not, because I believe that if you have talent then noboday can stop you, and if you don't know how to work then no matter how hard you try, nothing will happen."
Aamir also gave the example of his sister Nikhat Khan Hegde, who is an actor and producer but, nobody knows that she is Aamir's sister.
