After 27 years of marriage, Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee have decided to part ways.
New Delhi: Deborra-lee Furness and Hugh Jackman have mutually chosen to discontinue their marriage. They were married for 27 years. They have now released a statement together saying that they will be parting ways. The 'Wolverine' star and his 67-year-old partner told fans they felt "blessed" for the time they had together in a joint statement on Friday, announcing their separation.
People quoted Hugh and Deborra's statement: "We have been blessed to share almost 3 decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage. Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth."
The statement further reads, "Our family has been and always will be our highest priority. We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness. We greatly appreciate your understanding in respecting our privacy as our family navigates this transition in all of our lives."
At the end of the statement, it says, "This is the sole statement either of us will make." The signatories are "Deb and Hugh Jackman."
It was on the set of the Australian television series 'Corelli' in 1995 when the two actors began dating. After dating for a year, the couple tied the knot on April 11, 1996. For the unversed, Deborra is 13 years older than Hugh.
Hugh Jackman and Deborra-lee have two adopted children together. Their names are Oscar, who is 23 years old, and Ava, who is 18 years old.
The two were often seen together in public, whether it was riding scooters around New York City or going swimming in the Hamptons. Hugh and his now-estranged wife attended the Met Gala in May, which was the last time they were seen together.
The reason for their separation is yet unknown.
