New Delhi: Mitchel Musso, a former Disney Channel star best known for his role in the hit series 'Hannah Montana', was detained on suspicion of public intoxication and theft on Saturday after reportedly stealing a bag of chips. In the television series, Musso played Oliver Oken, best friend to actor-singer Miley Cyrus.
According to a report by USA Today, Mitchel was taken into custody on Saturday night in Rockwall, a Dallas suburb, following a conflict that started when someone called in a disturbance at a nearby hotel.
The 32-year-old actor has been reported to have entered the hotel and taken a bag of chips without paying for them, according to a press release from the Rockwall Police Department.
"When the subject was asked to pay for them, he became verbally abusive and left without rendering payment,'' authorities told Fox News.
After allegedly showing indications of intoxication outside the hotel, Mitchel Musso was taken into custody on two counts: public intoxication and theft under $100. He posted a $1,000 bond and was freed on Sunday afternoon. The report also stated that Mitchel had many outstanding traffic warrants against him, according to a background investigation.
In 2011, the actor was detained in Burbank, California, for driving under the influence.
Mitchel Musso became popular as a teenager in the late 2000s owing to his role as Oliver Oken in 'Hannah Montana'. Between March 2006 and January 2011, Disney Channel aired four seasons of the American teen sitcom 'Hannah Montana', which was produced by Michael Poryes, Rich Correll, and Barry O'Brien. Jason Earles and Emily Osment also appeared on the television show. He also starred in other shows like 'Pair of Kings' and 'PrankStars.' On the cartoon series Phineas and Ferb, Jeremy was also voiced by Mitchel Musso.
