Experimental Film Festival 2022 To Present Out-Of-The-Box Films Redefining The Language Of Cinema

In this year’s festival, Emami Art shall present out-of-the-box films that re-define the language of cinema, spanning across narrative, aesthetic, and technological domains.

New Delhi: Inspired by the positive feedback from 2020 online documentary film festival organised during the lockdown, Emami Art now moves a step forward with an Experimental Film Festival scheduled from November 9th to 13th,2022.

In this year’s festival, out-of-the-box films will be presented that redefine the language of cinema, spanning across narrative, aesthetic, and technological domains. The festival will be a part of the EA Locus in Focus program, aiming to bridge the gap between central and peripheral practices in contemporary art. The Emami Art Experimental Film Festival 2022 attempts to create an intimate network with the local makers and audience.

In its debut year, the emphasis would be on screening an eclectic range of avant-garde films across categories.

Selected by a panel of eminent jury, fifteen films from east and north-east India would be screened in the Competitive Category. Furthermore, there would be Curated Sections featuring noteworthy works in the experimental genre. Alongside the screenings, the sections are designed to create a discursive space that will spur new riveting conversations around the topics.

Additionally, there would be special screenings and talk sessions by industry experts.

An exhibition with absorbing insights into filmmaking would also be held onsite at the Emami Art Kolkata.

The film festival will consist of a competitive category of Films, 3 curated sections and 2 special screenings to be held over the 5-day period.

"I am proud to announce the Emami Art Experimental Film Festival 2022. It will not only present a wonderful selection of uniquely selected films but will open up a novel space for viewers to interact and engage with films from multiple perspectives, especially in relation to the broader context of visual arts," said Richa Agarwal, CEO, Emami Art.
