From Dharmendra To Hema Malini, Akshay Kumar And Anushka Sharma, B'Town Celebs Mourn The Demise Of Lata Mangeshkar

Several actors including Dharmendra, Hema Malini, Akshay Kumar and Anushka Sharma among others, took to their social media handles, to express grief over the singer's death.

New Delhi: 'Nightingale of India' and legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar breathed her last on Sunday, February 6 at Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital. The 92-year-old singer bid adieu to the world as she succumbed to multiple organ failure.

The entire nation is mourning the loss of the veteran singer, who has over 30,000 songs to her credit, in 13 different languages. Lata Mangeshkar lent her voice to almost all the leading ladies of Bollywood, and delivered numerous hit songs in a career spanning over eight decades. On her death today, the entire Bollywood industry mourns her loss.

Several actors including Dharmendra, Hema Malini, Akshay Kumar and Anushka Sharma among others, took to their social media handles, to express grief over the singer's death. Veteran actor Dharmendra lamented the loss of Lata as he wrote, "The whole world is sad , Can’t believe you have left us !!! We will miss you lata ji! Pray for your soul be in peace!"

Actress Hema Malini shared images of the legendary singer and wrote, "Feb 6 is a dark day for us - the legend who has given us a treasure trove of lilting songs, the Nightingale of India, Lataji, has left us to continue her divine music in heaven🙏 It is a personal loss for me as our affection & admiration for each other was mutual."

Actor Akshay Kumar tweeted, "Meri Awaaz Hi Pehchaan Hain, Gar Yaad Rahe…and how can one forget such a voice! Deeply saddened by the passing away of Lata Mangeshkar ji, my sincere condolences and prayers. Om Shanti."

Anushka Sharma also shared a throwback picture of Lata ji from her youth and wrote, "‘God speaks through beautiful voices’ Sad sad day for India as our nightingale leaves her mortal body. Lataji’s voice has immortalised her for ever. She will live in our hearts through her music. My deepest condolences to her family, friends and fans. RIP Lataji."

Other Bollywood celebrities like Anil Kapoor, Anupam Kher, Sonu Sood, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh also expressed their grief and shared their condolences, mourning the death of the 'Queen Of Melody', Lata Mangeshkar.
